Nowadays, desalination* has become a very affordable solution to cope with fresh water shortage typically in tropical as well as of off-shore areas.
The desalination core processes is based on Reverse Osmosis Membrane technology, but stand alone, it doesn't provide safe drinking water, nor does it guarantee an efficient plant.
The pretreatment includes all necessary treatment step ahead of the reverse osmosis plant. It is determining for plant life time and to minimize chemical cleaning and membrane replacement. It has a direct impact on the plant performance. There are as many membrane types as applications. They range from "high rejection" to "ultra low energy" or " high boron rejection".
The reverse osmosis process can also be built with one or two passes, depending on the product water requirements and the seawater salinity and temperature. In most cases, 1 pass is sufficient to reach the EU drinking water standards
The energy recovery device is the key factor that determines the plant electrical costs. It must be chosen carefully based on the local energy costs and environment policies.
Post-treatment are required to condition the water after the reverse osmosis membrane process to make it suitable to your application.
The art of desalination is to determine and combine available technologies to optimize water production costs and quality. To adapt our Desalination Plants to your local needs, we offer containerized mobile units from Intake to Distribution up to a production capacity of 300 m3/h of desalinated water.

Turnkey and tailor made RO plants.
In most cases, a RO plant must be preceded by a proper pre-treatment to avoid membrane fouling by sediments, hardness, organic matter, bacteria, silica, metal oxides or even chlorine.
Also, RO permeate water is often more acidic than the feed water due to dissolved carbon dioxide. Common post-treatment are pH neuralisation and remineralisation

Water Treatment Plant Containerization
AquaSana supplies any type of water treatment in a containerized version. From desalination plants to emergency resonce units. AquaSana designs ready-to-use containerized desalination plants that can produce up to 1000 m3/day of drinking water from different sources and with varying salinities.
The desalination core process is reverse osmosis where semi-permeable membranes are used.
Why containerization?
Containerized plants have many advantages over built-in plant room installations:
• Plug and play unit
• Quick installation
• Limited civil work (only container foundation)
• Small foot print
• Easy transportation
• Mobile: useful for construction sites
• Turnkey delivery: piping, cables, air conditioning

Containerization of a water treatment plant does not only include the supply of a container, it includes the complete installation of the plant:
• Connected piping between equipment pumps, vessels, skids, tanks
• Cabling and wiring of pumps and instrumentation inside the container to main control cabinet.

Container equipment

We can deliver our systems in insulated (20 or 40 ft) containers. Containerization includes all piping and fittings connected, all cables and wires connected to instrument and control cabinet. This is a “plug and play” unit supply.
The container will be mounted with one side door, one inlet/oulet (terminal point), one roof hatch, one side door and floor drainage. A sun roof can be offered on request to limit the inside temperature in the container if extreme conditions have to be considered.
The container can be air cooled on request. A/C is a split-unit and the outdoor part will be placed next to the container.
Each plant is fully 3D-design prior to construction. Chemcial room separated from main equipment room The design of the water treatment plants is always custom made and is subject to modifications depending on the water quality.

Reverse Osmosis units often required pre-treatment for the following parameters:

• Suspended solids
• TOC, COD/BOD, hydrocarbons
• Iron and manganese
• Hardness
